Blackwater.—the largest and most beautiful river
in the province of Munster; rising in SE. co. Kerry, it
flows E. through cos. Cork and Waterford, turning
to the S. before it enters Youghal harb. It is about
100 miles long, and is navigable 12 miles for barges and
flat-bottomed boats to Mallow. Its chief affluents are
the Bride, Allua, Funcheon, Araglin, and Finisk.—2.
Blackwater, affluent of river Boyne, at Navan, co.
Meath. It rises in E. co. Cavan, and is about 40 miles
in length.—3. Blackwater, river; rising in co. Tyrone,
it flows along the boundary between cos. Tyrone and
Armagh to SW. corner of Lough Neagh, and is about
50 miles in length.—4. Blackwater, affluent of river
Bann, co. Cavan.—5. Blackwater, rivulet, SW. co.
Kerry, flowing 8 miles S. into Kenmare river.—6.
Blackwater, vil. and coastguard sta., 10 miles SE. of
Enniscorthy, SE. co. Wexford, pop. 217; P.O. ; on

a light-vessel with fixed light (Blackwater Bank) seen
10 miles.
