also a considerable variety of industries, including iron-
castings, earthenware, and bleaching and calico printing.
At Over Darwen, also, are the Darwen Paper Mills.
The vicinity abounds with coal and stone.

Dauros, fishing vil., on bay and near headland of
same name, W. co. Donegal, 7 miles NW. of Ardara.

of Grantown; P.O.; in vicinity is Dava Inn.

Davaar, Davar, or Devaar, island, at mouth of
Campbeltown Loch, Kintyre, Argyllshire; serves as a
natural breakwater to Campbeltown harb.; on the NE.
side is a lighthouse, with revolving light (Davar) 120 ft.
above high-water and seen 17 miles.

mfrs. of whips and shoes. D. is an ancient town. It was
incorporated by King John. In the old coaching days it
