Carlingford, Lougli, a sea-inlet, between cos. Down and Louth, about 10 miles long and 2 miles wide; has depth of water for the largest ships, but its entrance is dangerous from sunken rocks. There are lighthouses at Haulbowline Rock, at the western edge of the shoal Gazetteer of the British Isles, Statistical and Topographical, by John Bartholomew, F.R.G.S.
