Banffshire, 5 miles SW. of CraigeHachie Junction;
P.O., called C. Station. In vicinity are C. Hill, rising
immediately from right bank of river Spey, alt. 967 ft.,
and C. House.—2. Carron, river, Stirlingshire; rises
in C. Bog, and flows E. to the Firth of Forth at Grange-
mouth; 20 miles long.—3. Carron, vil., Larbert par.,
Stirlingshire, near river Carron, 2 miles NW. of Fal-
kirk, pop. 902; P.O.; the ironworks, which are very
extensive, were established in 1760. Carronades, a
peculiar species of ordnance, were so called from being
cast here.—4. Carron, rivulet, Nithsdale, Dumfries-
shire; rises, at 2000 ft. above sea-level, among the
Lowther Hills, and flows 9 miles S. to the Nith
below Carronbridge vil.—5. Carron, stream, Kincar-
dineshire ; rises among the skirts of the Grampians,
and flows E. into the sea at Stonehaven; 8J miles long.

gargan Inn, and flows SW. through several small lochs
