Eilan . See Eilean .

Eildon Hills, Tke, NAY. Roxburghshire ; rise from
one base into three summits—(N.) 1327 ft.; (mid.) 1385
ft.; (S.) 1216 ft. high; have remains of a regularly
formed Roman encampment, and a tumulus, supposed
to be of Druidical origin, and command an extensive
view; on E. side, 14 mile SE. of Melrose, is the hamlet
of Eildon; adjacent is Eildon Hall, seat, property of
the Duke of Buccleuch.

first of the Earls of Ross, and subsequently of the
Mackenzies of Kintail.

opposite Bonawe.

Eilean Eada, islet, on AY. side of Knapdale, Argyll-
shire, near head of Loch Killieport; has good anchorage.

Eilean Finnan, island with ruins of ancient church,
in Loch Shiel, on N. border of Argyllshire.

Eilean Fraock, islet with ruins of ancient fortalice,
in Sound of Islay, Argyllshire.

Eilean Munde, islet, in Loch Leven, Argyllshire,
opposite Ballachulish; has ruins of a church of 10th
century, and an ancient cemetery; E. M. was a par., but
is now incorporated chiefly with Lismore and Appin par.

Eilean Musdilc, the principal of a group of islets off
SAY. of Lismore island, Loch Linnhe, Argyllshire.

Eilean Ruairidk (or Rory), island, in Loch Maree,
Ross-shire; has remains of an old chapel.

SAY. Inverness-shire.

natural arch, 150 ft. high and 70 wide; pop. 73.
