Market-day, Saturday. Keswick is beautifully situated
in the midst of stupendous mountains, having romantic
and picturesque scenery. It is a centre for tourists
visiting the Lake District, and much has been done for
their accommodation by the erection of fine hotels, &c.
Keswick has long been famous for the mfr. of black lead
pencils; but the black lead mines in the neighbourhood
are now practically exhausted. It also has mfrs. of
