Saturday. The town has an
agreeable situation, at the confluence of the rivers
Severn and Clywedog, and is nearly surrounded by lofty
hills, showing picturesque and beautiful scenery. It is
a very old place, the parish church of St Idloes having
been founded in 620. The mfr. of AVelsh flannel sup-
ports a great portion of the local trade, and in the
vicinity are many well-known and productive lead
mines. Tanning and machine-making are the other in-
dustries. Llanidloes is one of the Montgomery District
of Parliamentary Boroughs, which returns 1 member.
