Tuesday and Saturday. The town is situated nearly
3 miles N. of the sta. There are extensive flour mills in
the town and neighbourhood. The earldom of Mount-
rath, held by the Coote family, whose seat (Ballyfin
House) is adjacent, became extinct in 1802.

Mounts, 4 miles from Kingsbridge and 10 miles from
Totnes, Devon; P.O.

Mounts Bay, on S. coast of Cornwall; measures 20
miles across entrance (from Lizard Head to Guethens-
bras Point), and penetrates 9g miles NE. to Marazion ;
is a chief station of the pilchard fishery.

Mountshannon, vil., Inishcaltra par., S. co. Galway,
on Lough Derg, 5 miles NE. of Scarriff and 10 miles NAY.
of Nenagh ry. sta., pop. 149 ; P.O.

Monntsorrcl, town, Leicestershire, on river Soar, 4 m.
SE. of Loughborough, 680 ac., pop. 2317; P.O., T.O. ;
comprises Mountsorrel North End, township, Barrow
upon Soar par., pop. 1272; and Mountsorrel South
End, township, Rothley par., pop. 1045. Mountsorrel
derives importance and prosperity from the granite
quarries of the surrounding district ; the quality of
the stone is hard and durable, and since the open-
ing of the Mountsorrel Granite Works it has been very
extensively worked. Castle Hill, which overlooks the
town, was at one time surmounted by a powerful
fortress, which was finally demolished by Henry III.
Mountsorrel was originally called Mount Soar Hill,
from its situation on the banks of the Soar.

Islands, between Crabbe Bay and La Houle.

—2. Mourne, river, co. Tyrone ; is formed by the con-
fluence of the Strule and the Owenkillewnear Newtown-
Stewart, and flows 10 m. NAV. to river Foyle at Lifford.

Mourne, Lough.—3 miles N. of Carrickfergus, N.
co. Antrim.—2. Monrne, Lough, 5 miles SW. of
Stranorlar, SE. co. Donegal; 2 miles long.

Mourne Abbey, seat, near Kilkeel, S. co. Down.

Mourne Beg, rivulet, SE. co. Donegal; rises in
Lough Mourne, and flows 12 miles E. to river Derg, 3
miles SAV. of Castlederg, co. Tyrone.

Monrne Mountains, S. co. Down, extending 15 miles
NE. between Carlingford Lough and Dundrum Bay,
greatest alt. 2796 ft.; abound in granite.

Monrne Park, seat of the Earl of Kilmorey, 24 miles
NW. of Kilkeel, S. co. Down.

Monrneabbey, par., mid. co. Cork, on river Cladagh,
3 miles S. of Mallow, 11,435 ac., pop. 1690.

Monsa, island, Dunrossness par., Shetland, 11 miles
S. of Lerwick; is 14 mile long and § mile broad, and
contains a well-preserved Scandinavian fort.

Mouse t'astle, ancient camp, Herefordshire, on W.
border of co., 1 mile NE. of Hay.

Mouse Isles, off N. coast of Anglesey ; comprise East
Mouse, 1 mile NAA7. of Amlwch ; Middle Mouse, 4 miles
NAV. of Amlwch, opposite Llanbadrig; and AVest Mouse,
8 miles NW. of Amlwch, near Carmel Head.

Monse Sand, sandbank, at mouth of river Thames,
between West Swin and Barrow Deep; at W. end of
sand, 64 miles S. by E. of Foulness Point, is Blouse
Llght-Vessel, with revolving light seen 10 miles.

Blouse Water, NE. Lanarkshire ; rises on N. border
of Carnwath par., and flows 14 miles SAA7. to river
Clyde near Lanark.

Blouseliold, district, in E. of Norwich; P.O.

Mouseliole, vil., St Paul par., Cornwall, on Mounts
Bay, 2 miles S. of Penzance ; P.O.; is a seat of the pil-
chard fishery ; was formerly a market town, known as
Porth Enys, and was burned by the Spaniards in 1595 ;
here, in 1788, aged 102 years, died Dolly Pentreath, said
to have been the last person who spoke Cornish.

Blouscn, township, Bamburgh par., Northumber-
land, 1 mile S. of Belford, 792 ac., pop. 66; at Mousen
is an ancient camp.

Blouswald, par. and vil., S. Dumfriesshire, on Lochar
Moss—par., 5889 ac., pop. 558; vil., 24 miles SE. of
Racks ry. sta. and 7 miles SE. of Dumfries ; P.O.
