Ogwen, river, Carnarvonshire; issues from Llyn
Ogwen, and flows 10 miles NAV. through Nant Ffrancon
to the Menai Strait at Bangor; at the head of Nant
Ffrancon are the Falls of Ogwen, a broken series of
cataracts.

Ogwen Bank, seat, on river Ogwen, Carnarvonshire,
54 miles SE. of Bangor.

Ogwr, river, Glamorgan; rises in several head-
streams, in middle of co., among the mountains, flows
S. to Bridgend, and thence SAV. to Bristol Channel, 34
miles SE. of Bridgend; is 16 miles long, and is famous
for salmon.

O’Hara Brook, seat, 14 mile SAAr. of Ballymoney,
NW. co. Antrim.

Oich, loch and rivulet, in the Great Glen, mid.
Inverness-shire ; the loch, extending 3f miles NE. and
SAV., and lying between Lochs Ness and Lochy, forms
the summit-level of the Caledonian Canal; the rivulet
issues from the foot of the loch, and flows 64 miles NE.
to Loch Ness at Fort Augustus; the waters of both loch
and rivulet abound in trout and salmon.

Okehampton (or Oakhampton), ancient bor., mar-
ket town, and par., Devon, at confluence of rivers East
Okement and West Okement, 26 miles AV. of Exeter
and 197 miles from London by rail—par., 9552 ac., pop.
2292; town, pop. 1695; P.O., T.O., 2 Banks. Market-
day,
Saturday. The town is pleasantly situated in a
wooded valley, watered by the 2 rivers. Nearly all its
trade consists in supplying the commodities required in
the surrounding districts. Slight remains exist of the
once magnificent Okehampton Castle, erected by
Baldwin de Brioniis, a follower of William the Con-
queror. The town was chartered in the reign of Edward

I., and returned 2 members to Parliament until 1832.

Okement, river, Devon; rises near centre of Dart-
moor, in 2 headstreams (East and West Okement)
which unite at Okehampton, and flows 13 miles N. to
the Torridge, 2 miles NE. of Hatherleigh ; is noted for
its excellent trout.

Okeover, par., Staffordshire, 2 miles NAV. of Ash-
borne, 874 ac., pop. 81; contains Okeover Hall, seat.

Oker Hill, eminence, Derbyshire, 2 m. NE. of AVinster.

Okewood (or Oakwood), vil., Abinger par., and
eccl. dist., partly also in AVotton par., Surrey—dist.,
pop. 638; the vil. is 5 miles NW. of Horsham.

Olantigh Towers, seat, 5 m. NE. of Ashford, Kent.

Olchon Brook, stream, on SW. border of Here-
fordshire ; rises on Black Mountains, and flows 7 miles
SE. to its confluence with the Escley (tributary of river
Monnow) above Clodock.
