of Carnarvonshire, on E. side of Beaumaris Bay, 3%
miles N. of Conway; has lighthouse with fixed light
325 ft. above high water and seen 24 miles; 4 miles SE.
is the promontory of Little Ormes Head.

Thursday. Tradition has it
that Ormskirk is an ancient place, although its name
does not appear in Domesday Book. It is agreeably
situated, with sufficient elevation to admit of fine views
being obtained of the surrounding country. Cordage
mfrs. form the leading trade, but there are also brewing
and ironfounding. Market gardens are numerous in
the neighbourhood, their produce of carrots and early
potatoes being especially prized.
