Tuesday and Saturday. By means of
a ship canal vessels of about 200 tons can reach the
quay; larger vessels discharge at Fenit, 5 miles NAY.
of the town. Grain and butter are the chief exports ;
coal, iron, and timber are imported. (For shipping
statistics, see Appendix.) There are large barracks for
infantry. Tralee Castle, seat, is in vicinity. Tralee
returned 1 member to Parliament until 1885.

Tralee Bay, NAY. co. Kerry ; is 6 miles across the
entrance, and extends about 12 miles SE. to Tralee;
the S. shore is low, and semi-circular in form; on Little
Samphire Island is a lighthouse with fixed light (Tralee)
seen 8 miles.
