derable cotton manufacture is carried
on in this place, which, situated near
the Leeds and Liverpool canal, enjoys
several commercial advantages. The
parish contains the townships of Bank
Newton, Cold Coniston, Eshton, Flas-
hy with WTinterburn. Entire popula-
tion, 1659.
