of vil. is Fctleresso Castle (rebuilt 1830), formerly a
seat of the Earls Marischal.

Fetterncar House, seat of the Leslies of Balquhain,
on river Don, Aberdeenshire, 1 mile NW. of Kemnay
sta.; a little NW. are the ruins of the church of the
ancient chapelry (1109) of Fetternear; adjacent is a
Roman Catholic church (1859). The Bishops of Aber-
deen had a palace at Fetternear.

city of Edinburgh; originated in a bequest of Sir Wil-
liam Fettes of Comely Bank (1750-1836), and was
erected in 1865-70 at a cost of about £150,000; is con-

schools of England.
